Octosound
Octosound was formed in 2001 by guitarist Simon Grimshaw. He wanted to create a band with that crossed trip-hop and funk genres.
Andrew was one of the founder members of the band and after initially only playing some piano, he went on to write lyrics and take lead vocals. There were several changes in band members, but their work continued to grow - producing the songs Spiderweb, You'll Never Bring Me Down, Between The Lines, Satisfaction, China Town, A Little Something, Are You Gonna Come Home Tonight?, Connecting Flight, and Dragonfly. The band was also the birthplace of On The Rocks and Safe With You, both of which were dropped by the band, but were later worked on by Andrew and bandmate Dario Galasso.
The band seldom performed in public, although their appearances were mainly during 2003-2004. Demo tracks of their work survive, although they disabanded in August 2004.
The overall band members were: Simon Grimshaw (guitars), Andrew Martin (lyrics, vocals), Katie Eagleton (percussion, woodwind), Fran Alexander (electric violin), Derek Scurll (percussion), Tavish Fraser (bass, lyrics), Carl Taylor (bass), Mark Salad (percussion), Dario Galasso (keys and guitars).
