Humankind Remix Competition
The Humankind Remix Competition is now closed.
After the phenomenal response and success of last year's Irresistible Competition, we've launched the HUMANKIND REMIX COMPETITION.
This competition gives you the chance to win a place on the digital release of Andrew's new single 'Humankind' - a robotic synth romp which is due out this summer. The single will be distributed via the likes of iTunes, Amazon and Napster etc.
'Humankind' is the third single to be taken from the long-awaited album 'The Vorticist', following on from 'Irresistible' and 'A Moment With You'.
As before, we're not going to give you the original track to listen to, as this forces a wide range of remix styles. We've released five 'stems' for you to use in your mix which you can download via the download link below.
Please read the rules - a bit dull, but there's some important things you need to know before submitting your entry.
Submit your entry
Closing date is 23:59 (UK time) on Sunday 1st August 2010.
We'd prefer to receive your entry via DropBox from SoundCloud. Once you've uploaded your entry, they appear privately to Andrew and the Subfonic team who can then download them, listen to them, and contact you back if you're a winner. We prefer a WAV file.
If you'd rather email a download link to your entry, you can do so by sending it, with your name, your location, your email address and the name of your remix to remix@subfonic.co.uk . Again, entries must be received by 23:59 (UK time) on Sunday 1st August 2010, and we prefer a WAV format.
The Rules
- Entrants must be over the age of 16 years on the date of closing - 23:59 on Sunday 1st August 2010.
- Entrants must use some of the vocal stems in their entry but the remaining stems are optional.
- Entries can be no longer than 8 minutes in length and should be submitted in WAV format.
- Entries can be of any genre and style, although a Folk Dub might be somewhat odd. But go on, surprise us.
- Entrants can submit as many entries as they wish.
- By entering the competition, the entrant surrenders all rights and claims to their work and may not enter into any of their own distribution (paid or unpaid) or commercial activities without prior agreement from the Subfonic label. Requests for usage will be considered and should be made to info@subfonic.co.uk.
- The 'stems' have been made available for this competition only. Entrants are not permitted to use the material outside of the context of this competition.
- Any additional material used by the entrant must be original. Any entries submitted that are found to contain un-original and un-cleared samples will automatically be disqualified from the competition.
- Subfonic reserves the right to determine the usage of the winning entry/entries in addition to the named prize. This may include, but not be limited to, inclusion in advertising, giveaways, compilations, ring-tones, or inclusion on further releases in the future.
- Subfonic and Andrew Martin will not provide payment of any royalties, or alternative prize to any of the entrants or winners.
- The winning entrant(s) agree to have their name or their stage name displayed on any artwork, packaging and promotional media (including online) and will be asked to provide a suitable image to represent them in any advertising and promotional materials.
- The closing date is final and there will be no exceptions made for late entries made after Sunday 1st August 2010.
- Each entry should be clearly labelled with its title 'Humankind (your remix title to appear here)' and include your real name and email address.
- Entrants should have lots of fun producing their entry.
- Entries will be judged on 2nd and 3rd August 2010 and and the winner(s) will be announced on this website here shortly after this date.
If you have any questions about the competition, then please post them below.

I really want to be part of this great competition. But the Mediafire download keeps sending me a corrupted version of the lead vox. Everything else comes across nicely, but I feel I’d be remiss to ignore the lead vox. Please let me know what I can do to work around this. My word I’ll make it worth your while, sonically speaking of course. =) Luck/Life/Welrod

Hi Welrod,
Thanks for letting us know. We’ve refreshed the link to the set of complete stems and added a link to download the leadvox stem separately, so please see above. Hopefully it will work okay for you now. :)

original track??
July 20th, 2010 - 16:49
Hello, thanks for the question.
We’ve purposefully decided not to give the original track out for this competition as we do not want to limit or influence the creativity of entrants. We did this for the previous remix competition and found that the entries covered a wide range of styles.
